Abstract(s)
. O trabalho do GTF de São Pedro do Sul tem visibilidade e efeitos no território;
floresta contra incêndios;
This work meets the two-year curriculum of the Master of Science in Forest Resources Management and fulfills the final stage of such curriculum. The main goal is to describe and analyze forest resources management activities developed for eight years by the offices of Forestry Technical Services (GTF) in S. Pedro do Sul, Viseu, Portugal. Our approach focus on the official technical reports which document all occurrences and programs carried out, as well as management tasks. Moreover we made an inquiry to 19 managers in order to get information about the level of effectiveness of different measures and the adjustment of the different programs and activities. The analysis of the technical reports and the outcomes of the inquiry suggest that: . All the work carried out by the GTF has local and regional visibility and affects the territory, particularly increasing resilience to fire; . People, in general, are aware of the rules of defense against forest fires and changes in behavior were reported; . At a regional level, there is a better articulation of the resources, resulting in a faster first intervention. . Follow up policies are needed to valorize woodlands through structural preventive actions.
