Hoje em dia, a insuficiência de investimento financeiro, o consumo exagerado dos combustíveis fósseis e o aumento do custo da energia elétrica reforça a importância das energias renováveis na sustentabilidade energética, onde o que é produzido poderá ser consumido no local da instalação (autoconsumo).
Nesta dissertação é realizada uma análise da energia solar, bem como o estudo da tecnologia associada à captação e aproveitamento da mesma. É também realizado um profundo estudo ao Decreto-Lei nº 153/2014 de 20 de outubro, que regula o autoconsumo. Por fim são apresentadas soluções técnicas para a indústria, recorrendo à ferramenta HOMER Energy. Foram estudados dois casos práticos, um deles envolvendo a Cutelaria Martins e outro a Sortegel.
